David is more than a skilled captain - he’s a world traveler, ocean adventurer, and all-rounder. He’s surfed the waves of Tahiti, explored the turquoise waters of the Seychelles, navigated the coasts of South Africa and Madagascar, soaked in the rhythms of Barbados and Jamaica, and brought all that knowledge and passion for the sea back home to Grand Cayman.
His adventures extend beyond the water. As a talented homegrown chef, Captain David treats guests to his signature marinated conch — caught fresh before your eyes. Watch him dive for the conch, skillfully remove it from the shell, and prepare it with island herbs and flavors. The feast continues with his refreshing mango salad, made from mangoes grown in his own family garden, and his famous Swanky Fever Grass drink — a unique recipe passed down from his great-uncle.

Meet Your Captain
I am David Evans (aka Ras D), founder of Starline Dream Tours and a seasoned Boat Captain, Diver, and Surfer with a deep-rooted passion for the sea. Born and raised in the Cayman Islands, I come from a long line of boat builders and seafarers. My father, Atlee Evans, was the first Caymanian to become a certified dive master instructor, managing the island’s first diving operation, Lobster Pot Divers, for Bob Soto, a pioneer in modern scuba diving. My great uncle, Captain Ernst Ebanks, helped establish the Stingray City tourism industry. Growing up in this rich maritime heritage, I have been navigating Cayman’s waters since a young age.
With over 25 years of marine experience, I hold a Dive Control Specialist Certificate from Howell Watts, Scuba Schools International, and have honed my skills to become one of the most trusted captains in the Cayman Islands. My mission is to provide guests with an authentic Caymanian experience, sharing not only the island’s history but also insights from my travels to places like Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar, South Africa, and beyond. Through Starline Dream Tours, I aim to blend adventure, culture, and history, ensuring every journey is unforgettable.
